Testimonials
Why do we need to film our school or dance productions?

It’s a great way for the school or dance company to keep a record of their performers achievements in putting the production together. It’s nice for the performers to have a record of the work they have done and a view of their ability while performing.

Why should we pay a professional when some of our parents have offered to do it?

With Softlight Media you know you are going to get professional filming from multiple camera angles combined with professional post production editing. Cross dissolves, precision timing cuts between camera angles, moving menus, scene selections and professional print DVD/Blu-ray covers with photos from the production to mention a few items. We as a professional production company offer as our quality pledge and a testament to the quality of every DVD/Blu-ray we produce.

What happens if the production has low lighting?

That does not really matter. Our High Definition cameras can handle almost any low light situation. We can safely say that we can shoot in candle light and still capture the mood of the production.

Do you film backstage?

Yes we do. We normally like to put together about a 5-10 minute section where the performers are preparing costumes etc.

Do you do an introduction?

Yes we do. We at Softlight Media feel that an introduction is a good lead into a production, enhancing the quality of the DVD/Blu-ray and letting the audience at home know what they are about to watch and build up the excitement of anyone watching the production.

Can you put credits at the end of the production?

Yes. We like to put credits at the end of all our productions, this enables the DVD/Blu-ray to stand out from the rest and gives it a Hollywood feel and touch.

Can you film rehearsals of the production?

Yes we can. This will be at an extra charge over our standard packages. It is a nice buildup to the actual production and offers the public an opportunity to see how much hard work has gone into putting the whole production together. Rehearsals are generally put on a separate disc titled “The making of …..”

Can you film an entire backstage while the show is in progress?

Yes we can. It is sometimes nice to see what actually happens backstage. This will be an extra charge over and above our standard packages.

How many cameras do you use?

We shoot productions on anything from 2 cameras to 5 cameras. This all depends on the nature of the production and the layout of the theatre / hall. Normally dance productions and children’s plays we use 2 cameras and high school productions can range from 3-5 cameras.

Will your cameramen have a professional appearance?

Yes. The standard dress code for our cameramen is dressed smart in black with corporate wear. This ensures that we blend in with the backstage crew.

What if something happens to our DVD/Blu-ray copy?

Softlight Media as a standard keeps a master DVD/Blu-ray copy of your production just in case something should happen to your copy. We will also keep all the raw footage from your production for life incase you would like to integrate that with some footage from previous years.

Will our DVD/Blu-ray’s have chapter points for easy movement in the DVD/Blu-ray?

Yes it will. We do interactive moving menus on all the DVD/Blu-rays with a scene selection and we also put extra chapter points in the DVD/Blu-ray to enable you to skip through with ease. The chapter points will also be placed at the crucial points on the DVD/Blu-ray for example the start of each dance / scene.

What will the finished product look like?

All the DVD/Blu-rays come with professional printed photographic covers in DVD/Blu-ray boxes and the DVD/Blu-rays with printed disc faces. All the DVD/Blu-rays come with moving menus and scene selections that follow the theme of your production.

Do you do still photography of the production too?

Yes we can. We bring in 1-2 photographers at the dress rehearsal to shoot the production. Photographs will be placed on a DVD so the performers can print as many pictures as they would like.

Do you use Studio Lights when doing the photography?

Yes, we do. This is a standard for the company that we will use the studio lights with during the performance and on the individual and the group photography.

How will the photographs be presented?

We will supply all the photographs to you on a disc that will go with the DVD/Blu-ray in a double box set. You can print unlimited copies by having it in this format.
